My faith has served as a guiding light, illuminating opportunities amid challenges. When my future seemed uncertain, God aligned everything to help me transition into a new chapter of my life. Real estate transformed from a profession into a calling—a platform where I could amalgamate my skills, values and faith to make a meaningful impact.
For much of my life, I have had two distinct passions pulling me toward different paths. Computers fascinated me. I loved the logic and intricacies of coding. However, a passion for people proRmpted me to pivot towards studies that revolved more around human interactions.
Choosing to follow my most marketable skillsets, I began working in the computer field, thinking it was the smart, stable choice. However, time and time again, I found myself facing layoffs, stuck in a loop of finding a great job only for the positions to be cut.
After three layoffs, I knew something needed to change. I wasn’t happy, and I was letting corporations determine my future. Around the same time, the school I was attending for more certifications abruptly closed, making the time and effort I put toward it a complete waste. Everything was pointing for me to try a new direction.
Simultaneously, my father, a seasoned airline pilot about to retire, faced a devastating loss of his retirement. He was the first round of people who were notified they would no longer receive the retirement benefits they were promised. In the face of uncertainty, we made a conscious decision not to succumb to these setbacks but to seek out new horizons together.
My father's predicament, juxtaposed with my own professional upheavals, created a shared resolve within us. We embarked on a journey, a venture into the realm of real estate, seeking stability, autonomy and the opportunity to craft our destinies in an industry teeming with potential.
The foray into real estate wasn't merely a leap into a new industry; it was a holistic embrace of our collective experiences and skill sets. We immersed ourselves in intensive real estate investment classes, traversing the country and attending conventions and courses to learn everything we could about the industry. We began flipping properties and found quick success in the endeavor.
After quite a few of these projects, my REALTOR®, Bruce, finally said, “You know what? You’re doing. You should become an agent and list your properties yourself.” It blew me away that someone making money from our transactions would look out for our best interests in such a selfless way.
Taking his advice, I became a licensed real estate agent—it was a pivotal moment. Real estate provided me with the freedom I always longed for. Now, I could help others pursue their own dreams within the industry. It was a conscious decision to bridge the gap between my passion for problem-solving and my passion for people.
My faith is the cornerstone of my existence. It's not just a part of my life; it guides and shapes every decision I make. Faith forms the lens through which I view my work in real estate. I see every interaction with clients as an opportunity to assist individuals not just in buying or selling properties but in navigating through life-altering decisions with integrity, honesty and empathy. 
Today, my amazing team at Relevate works hard to continue providing exceptional, people-centered services. None of this would have been possible without the support of family, friends and my incredible wife, Ashley.
Ashley is also a real estate agent, working from home much of the time to raise our four children, Ellie, Parker, Brooklyn and Sophia Kate. We are a great team as husband and wife, parents and real estate agents! My life is truly blessed, and I am grateful every day I trusted in God's plan for me. When not working, we are very involved in our church, doing pre-marital counseling for couples and taking opportunities to volunteer and support our community.
